Estimate follow-up for remodelers and general contractors
An estimate that goes quiet isn't always a no. People get busy, compare quotes, or wait to talk it over. A short, polite follow-up keeps you in the running. It's also the first thing to slip when the day gets away from you.
Free: three follow-up texts you can copy today
Swap in the customer's name and your shop's. Each one fits in a single text message with a short shop name.
Day 3: a friendly check-in
Hi [Name], it's [Shop Name]. Did our estimate come through OK? Any questions on the scope or schedule? Reply STOP to opt out.
Day 7: an offer to help
Hi [Name], it's [Shop Name], following up on our estimate. No rush. Happy to walk through the plan again. Reply STOP to opt out.
Day 14: closing the file
Hi [Name], it's [Shop Name]. We'll close the file on your estimate for now. Ready to pick it back up? Text us. Reply STOP to opt out.
How to send them without remembering
- Right after you send an estimate, schedule the day 3 follow-up. In Gmail, write it, then click the arrow next to Send and choose Schedule send.
- If they answer first, cancel it. Gmail won't do that for you: open Scheduled and click Cancel send.
- Day 14 closes the loop. Say you'll stop checking in, and make it easy to come back later. Then actually stop.
Keep it friendly
- No made-up deadlines, no "prices are going up," no guilt trips.
- Texts name your business and include "Reply STOP to opt out."
- Use the way they reached you: email if you emailed the estimate, text if you text.
- If they say no thanks, thank them and stop.
